Welcome to the Larking Gowen
City of Norwich Half Marathon
28th edition - Sunday 25 November 2012, Norfolk Showground, start 11am
Welcome to the Larking Gowen City of Norwich Half Marathon, organised by the members and friends of City of Norwich AC.
First staged in 1985 by Duke Street Running Club, this race was originally based in the centre of Norwich. It moved to the Norfolk Showground on the western outskirts of the city in 1993 and has been there ever since. The race now follows a fast rural two-lap route through the parishes of Easton, Honingham, Colton, Marlingford and the grounds of Easton College. All public roads are closed to through traffic while the race is in progress.
Over the years this race has earned an enviable reputation for fast times, first class organisation and excellent value for money. This is a BARR Gold Grade event with tag timing, extensive permanent facilities and parking at the Norfolk Showground, lots of good viewing opportunities, prizes worth over £6,000 for the fleet of foot, one of the best medals around and a decent goody bag for every finisher - it all adds up to a great day out for runners and spectators alike.
Please note - this race carries a half-way cut-off time of 90 minutes. This means that runners are directed to retire and not allowed to continue if they fail to reach the half-way point by the time the official race clock shows 90 minutes. This is not negotiable so please make sure that you reach the half-way point inside 90 minutes!
Registration for the 28th edition of this race will open on 1 March 2012.
