FAQs

Below is a list of FAQ’s. We realised the athletes have lots and questions and comments, which may not be answered below, if this is the case please email info@cityofnorwichhalfmarathon.com

What is chip timing?

Each participant will be issued with an electronic chip on race day. You will need to attach the chip to one of your running shoes by threading it through your shoe laces. The timing mats placed at the start and on the finish line will pick up the unique signal from your chip and the race computer will then calculate your exact running time to be shown in the official results listing. If you do not wear your chip as directed then you will not be credited with an official time as no other timing arrangements will be in place.

How far is a half marathon?

The half marathon course has been accurately measured at 13 miles 192.5 yards - in metric that’s 21.0975 kilometers.

Can I walk part or all of the way?

Yes you can, but please remember that the Larking Gowen City of Norwich Half Marathon is a road race designed for runners, and if you have not had experience of walking 13.1 miles in under 3 hours then we advise that you do not enter this event.

Can I take part in fancy dress?

Yes you can, but you will make the challenge of running a half marathon even harder if you do.

What will I receive before the race?

If you enter on line you will receive an automated email confirmation that you have been accepted. If you enter by post, please check your bank statement for confirmation that your entry has been confirmed. Race packs will be posted from 1 November and will include important information about the arrangements for collecting your race number and electronic chip on race day.

I have entered the race but am now unable to take part - can I get a refund?

Sorry, but we do not give refunds.

I have entered the race but am now unable to take part - can I sell or give my place to someone else?

No!! Your place has been allocated to you on the basis of the details you have provided to us on your entry form. If someone else runs in your place then the official results will be inaccurate, problems could be caused with the prizes and worst of all there could be unnecessary grief & suffering if your replacement is involved in a serious injury or accident.

Where can I find advice on pre-race training?

Please visit the Training Plans section of this site where you will find advice, guidance & tips get you into great shape for the big day. Two race “novices” will also be sharing their thoughts with us as their training unfolds.
