Run for the Challenge, Run to Make a DifferenceRunning in this years Larking Gowen City of Norwich Half Marathon could mean more than just facing a personal physical challenge as participants can have their chance to help make a BIG difference to the lives of those affected by cancer in Norfolk and Waveney by raising sponsorship for local cancer charity Big C. Since it was formed by two men from Norwich back in 1980, Big C has raised over £12 million to fund cancer support, care and treatment facilities across Norfolk and Waveney to benefit our local community, our neighbours, our families, our friends. |
In addition to funding vital equipment and treatment facilities at the local hospitals, we also fund world class research into cancer at the University of East Anglia’s Bio Medical Research Centre and are committed to ensuring local people affected by cancer have access to the very best support and care.
In May 2006 Big C were able to open the Big C Centre, a special cancer information and support centre at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital which has proven to be a haven for patients and their families at their greatest time of need, providing a listening ear and access to information about their treatment and care and about local support groups they could benefit from as well as offering counseling, benefits advice, Look Good Feel Better sessions and many other services.
So why not take on the Big C Ultimate Challenge and run in support of this great local cancer charity this year. Together we can help make a BIG difference to the lives of local cancer patients.
